Description
The historic Toronto Maple Leafs franchise has won 13 Stanley Cups starting in the NHL’s inaugural 1917-18 season. Originally, the team was informally called “the Torontos” or “the Blueshirts” by their fans. In those early years, the team was known as the Toronto Arenas and then the Toronto St Pats. In 1927 a group led by Conn Smythe bought the franchise and renamed them the Maple Leafs. Sports artist Paine Proffitt beautifully captures the team’s rich texture and tradition in this mixed media piece. To commission original artwork by hockey artist Paine Proffitt, contact us now!
